The weapon of choice for Power Quality issues
Trouble shooting power quality issues is always difficult because the faults are often intermittent; murphy’s law says they will never happen when the technician is on site.
In addition, many faults are complex, often dependent on a number of supply and load events coinciding to produce the fault.
This is where the Fluke 1740 series Power Quality Logger is an indispensable tool for trouble shooting. Simply connect up the Fluke 1740 and start recording.
After capturing data for hours, days or even weeks the Fluke Instrument has a useful range of analytical tools that will scan the data and identify faults and trends.
The captured data is time logged, enabling identifying events that might be contributing to the problem. Power Quality is often caused when the mains supply is affected by a number of large loads from nearby users coming on line simultaneously, for example when factories switch on for the day, or air-conditioning systems on time clocks all kick-in at the same time.
The data logger will capture all events and store them in memory ready for later analysis enabling the pinpointing of transient events allowing more informed deductions about their cause.

Fluke 1748 – is the advanced power quality logger with waveform capture and RMS profile capture of events.

Measurement input ports
Four voltage monitoring inputs allowing connecting to single up to 3 phase loads.
Four current sensing input channels.
The instrument can be configured to 10 different power topologies covering the full range of single and multi-phase connections making it an extremely versatile instrument.
2 analog auxiliary ports with range selection from 0 to 10 volts, or 0 to 1000 volts allowing the instrument to record output from a wide range of sensors that generate voltage representation of measured events.
This feature allows collecting parallel data from associated events that might be suspected of contributing to Power Quality issues (temperature, pressure, rotation speed, switching on of particular loads etc.)
Instrument power options
The instrument can be parasitically powered from the measurement line self-adapting to voltages from 100 to 500 volts.
Of course if one of the power quality issues is low-voltage events or power outages, you don’t want the instrument powering off, so the Fluke has a built-in 4 hour battery back-up to allow it ride through outages without powering down.
Each instrument in the Fluke 1740 series provides of data connections including USB A, USB mini B, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection to other devices – makes hooking-up to a laptop or PC easy.
The Ethernet connection is particularly useful for long term or permanent connection if you wish to set-up the Fluke 1740 series for a remotely accessed monitoring system or including it as a permanent data capturing device.
