"Who likes eating burnt muffins? Not us!"Enhancing Bread Production Efficiency with Advanced Inspection Solutions
The Challenge
Bread Trays were moving, not aligning, and causing jamming as they were coming down the line.
Even the slightest misalignment can lead to significant downtime and loss of product. Imagine a scenario where a bread tray comes down on an angle, causing a jam at the oven’s infeed, stopping production, and resulting in hours of costly downtime and product wastage.
The Solution
Guy Negri our National Product Manager for Sensors, Safety and Vision worked closely with the customer and considering several products. He found that the Sick InspectorP630 with Inspection App would be the best solution to prevent jams and ensure smooth operation. With its sophisticated technology, this system detects any deviation from the norm.
The Sick InspectorP630 utilise a large 2D camera to obtain a large field of view, capturing the entire production line with precision. Due to the camera being approximately 1.2m above the conveyor, LED spotlights were also required to illuminate the area.
The heart of this system lies in its intelligent features, including the ‘object locator’ and ‘blob tool.’ These tools meticulously inspect the orientation of each line of bread rolls, ensuring that trays are correctly positioned. By identifying any anomalies, the system can promptly halt the production line, preventing potential jams before they occur.
The Benefits
One of the benefits, is that the system has the ability to save ‘reject’ images, which provides valuable insights for process optimization. By analysing these images, manufacturers can identify recurring issues and implement corrective measures downstream. This proactive approach not only minimizes disruptions but also enhances overall productivity and quality control.
Remtron also worked closely with the customer to make sure the solution provided was one that would optimise their return on investment.
